    We suggest an equal-time n-point correlation function for systems in the directed percolation universality class which is well defined in all phases and independent of initial conditions.     Spatial coherence of thermal near fields

    We analyze the spatial coherence of the electromagnetic field emitted by a half-space at temperature T close to the interface. An asymptotic analysis allows to identify three different contributions to the cross-spectral density tensor in the near-field regime.     Opportunities for maser studies with the Square Kilometre Array

    The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is the radio telescope of the next generation, providing an increase in sensitivity and angular resolution of two orders of magnitude over existing telescopes. Currently, the SKA is expected to span the frequency range 0.1-25 GHz with capabilities including a wide field-of-view and measurement of polarised emission. Such a telescope has enormous potential for testing fundamental physical laws and producing transformational discoveries. Important science goals include using H2O megamasers to make precise estimates of H0, which will anchor the extragalactic distance scale, and to probe the central structures of accretion disks around supermassive black holes in AGNs, to study OH megamasers associated with extreme starburst activity in distant galaxies and to study with unprecedented precision molecular gas and star formation in our Galaxy.Comment: 5 pages, to appear in: IAU Symposium 242 Astrophysical Masers and their Environment

    The local scale invariance has been investigated in the nonequilibrium kinetic Ising model exhibiting absorbing phase transition of PC type in 1+1 dimension.     Kinetics of the long-range spherical model

    The kinetic spherical model with long-range interactions is studied after a quench to T<TcT < T_c or to T=TcT = T_c. For the two-time response and correlation functions of the order-parameter as well as for composite fields such as the energy density, the ageing exponents and the corresponding scaling functions are derived.     Impact cratering record of Fennoscandia

    A compilation of circular topographic, morphological, or geophysical structures in Fennoscandia and adjacent areas reveals 62 craterform structures of which 15 appear to be of extraterrestrial origin due to meteorite impact. The majority of the structures are probable and possible impact craters for which there is not yet sufficient proof for impact origin. Four of the proven impact craters contain large volumes of impact melt and many other features of intense shock metamorphism. The age of recognized impact craters vary from prehistoric to late Precambrian. We review the Fennoscandian impact cratering record giving examples of geophysical signatures of impact craters

    The value of the non-equilibrium exponent aa is measured in the two-dimensional (2D) Ising model quenched to below criticality from the dynamical scaling of the zero-field-cooled and the intermediate susceptibility. Our results fully reconfirm the expected value a=1/2a=1/2 but are inconsistent with the value a=1/4a=1/4, advocated by Corberi, Lippiello and Zannetti (cond-mat/0506139).Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys.     Scaling of the linear response in simple ageing systems without disorder

    The time-dependent scaling of the thermoremanent and zero-field-cooled susceptiblities in ferromagnetic spin systems undergoing ageing after a quench to a temperature at or below criticality is studied. A recent debate on their interpretation is resolved by showing that for systems with a short-ranged equilibrium spin-spin correlator and above their roughening temperature, the field-cooled susceptibility χFC(t)χ0tA\chi_{\rm FC}(t)-\chi_0\sim t^{-A} where χ0\chi_0 is related to the equilibrium magnetization and the exponent A is related to the time-dependent scaling of the interface width between ordered domains. The same effect also dominates the scaling of the zero-field-cooled susceptibility χZFC(t,s)\chi_{\rm ZFC}(t,s), but does not enter into the thermoremanent susceptibility ρTRM(t,s)\rho_{\rm TRM}(t,s). However, there may be large finite-time corrections to the scaling of ρTRM(t,s)\rho_{\rm TRM}(t,s) which are explicitly derived and may be needed in order to extract reliable ageing exponents. Consistency with the predictions of local scale invariance is confirmed in the Glauber-Ising and spherical models.Comment: Latex2e, 14 pages, with 6 figure
